OUR STORY

Environmental Advocates for Responsible and Thriving Habitat for Wildlife, Indigenous Communities, and Sustainable Conservation (EARTHWISE), is an apolitical organization recognized in accordance with Article 7 of Law No.90/053 of December 19, 1990, on freedom of organization in Cameroon officially registered under the declaration receipt NºD86/RDA/F.34/SAA.JP. is a nonprofit organization committed to environmental conservation and sustainable development while improving the livelihoods of communities reliant on natural resources. Founded in 2017 in Dschang by students and faculty of the University of Dschang, along with other researchers and environmental advocates, the organization emerged from a shared concern over ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, and the challenges faced by indigenous communities.

EARTHWISE CONSERVATION adopts a participatory and research-driven approach, working closely with local populations to integrate traditional ecological knowledge with modern conservation strategies. Through scientific research, environmental education, community-based conservation, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, the organization fosters a balance between human well-being and biodiversity preservation. Collaborating with national and international partners, EARTHWISE CONSERVATION also engages in policy advocacy, habitat restoration, and responsible natural resource management, ensuring that conservation remains a priority at all levels.

OUR VISION

EARTHWISE CONSERVATION envisions a world where biodiversity is safeguarded, ecosystems are preserved, and human communities coexist sustainably with their natural environment. The organization strives for a future in which the responsible management of natural resources ensures the survival of endangered species and the well-being of the populations that depend on them.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to protect wildlife and their habitats while ensuring a sustainable future for local communities. Through scientific research, environmental education, and awareness-raising initiatives, the organization seeks to foster a deeper understanding and active participation in conservation efforts. It is also dedicated to restoring degraded ecosystems, promoting sustainable community development, and advocating for effective environmental policies. By working both locally and internationally, EARTHWISE CONSERVATION aims to create a lasting impact on ecosystem preservation and the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.

Laeticia SIME

Winny Laeticia is a researcher in ecology and wildlife management, specializing in primatology. She pursued her higher studies at the University of Dschang, where she obtained a Master's degree in Ecology and Wildlife Management. Her research focuses on the habitat preferences of chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes troglodytes), local community knowledge, perception, and attitudes in the Douala-Edea National Park (Littoral-Cameroon). She has completed several internships as a volunteer with the NGO ABOYERD. Winny is determined to contribute to the conservation of wildlife and biodiversity for long-term sustainable development.

Chirelle TSANE

Chirelle is a researcher in conservation biology at the University of Dschang and holds a master's degree in ecology. Committed to environmental protection and the conservation of endangered species, she is passionate about research into Cameroon's herpetofauna. She has worked with IRAD to integrate amphibians into biological pest control, and has solid experience of working with researchers, NGOs and local communities, while adapting to a variety of field conditions.

Nwuki is a dedicated early-career conservationist from Cameroon, specializing in tropical biology and wildlife conservation in the Congo Basin. With a background in conservation biology, ecoparasitology, and agroforestry, he is particularly interested in primate ecology. Inspired by the work of renowned primatologist John F. Oates, he is currently researching the abundance and distribution of different primate genera across the Congo Basin and Cameroonian forests. He has gained valuable experience as a volunteer with environmental NGOs, focusing on sustainable resource use and community livelihood improvement around Protected Areas. His work includes leading conservation education programs, training local communities in sustainable practices, establishing agroforestry nurseries, and restoring degraded forest habitats. Through these initiatives, he aims to contribute to both biodiversity conservation and the well-being of local populations
